Intro to Rock Climbing
Beginner | Minimum Age (14+) | Full Day | Ratio 1:6
£ 70 Per Person
Learn to climb outdoors on real rock just 20 minutes from Glasgow with a relaxed, half‑day introduction designed to help you feel safe, supported, and confident as you try outdoor climbing for the first time.
You’ll begin with a friendly welcome and a quick introduction to the equipment before getting hands‑on with the essentials. That includes fitting your harness and helmet, tying in securely, belaying safely, using clear communication, and learning simple movement techniques that help you feel steady and in control on the rock. Everything is taught at an easy pace, with plenty of time to practise, ask questions, and build confidence.
As the session progresses, you’ll have the chance to try a variety of climbs suited to your ability, giving you a real taste of what outdoor climbing feels like. Your instructor will offer supportive coaching throughout, helping you trust your feet, move smoothly, and enjoy the experience without pressure.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a solid introduction to outdoor climbing, an understanding of the key safety skills, and a clear sense of whether you’d like to progress to a full‑day course or a more advanced two‑day development programme.
If you’re keen to take the next step and build towards climbing more independently, the Rock Climbing Development Course is the natural progression.

Clothing: Please wear suitable lightweight and warm clothing that you do not mind getting wet, it is quite likely you will fall in at some point! We will not be travelling to far so for those that do get cold easily it is not far back to the shore to get warm again. If you do have your own wetsuit or waterwear, please feel free to bring it!
Footwear: Securely attached and close toed footwear is required to, so unfortunately no crocs, flip flops or sandals! We can not see what is on the bottom of the lochs and rivers, and we do not recommend using bare feet to find out.
Weather: Our sessions will go ahead in all but the most inclement weather, so make sure you bring your waterproofs, a sun hat, and plenty of water to stay hydrated, this way you will be prepared for whatever weather Scotland throws our way.
